Our Hope Center Wishlist includes being able to provide 200 LifeKits a month on the 20th of each month with enough items to last for 10 days.
We recently had the pleasure of visiting the Hope Center in East Hollywood. While we were there we were able to talk to Pastor Ed and learn more about their volunteer-run donation-based community food program and were even able to roll up our sleeves in the kitchen.
At the Hope Center they serve 2 meals a day to around 100 people per mealtime, Monday through Friday. That is about 1000 meals a week or almost 52,000 meals a year.
However, while they are able to provide so much community support by ways of meal service throughout the week, they are unable to provide for their community in other ways.
On our visit we learned that their busiest meal times happen towards the end of the month when money starts to run out for their community members. Their community members also start to run out of a lot of other necessities as well.
That’s where you and LifeKit come in.
Together we can partner to provide 200 x 10 day LifeKits once a month to Hope on a consistent basis.
- 2 liter-sized bottles of water (roughly 6.8 oz a day)
- 3 packets of dry oatmeal
- 3 bars (protein/fiber)
- 3 dried noodle packs
- 1 chocolate bar
- 1 reusable cup
- 1 toothpaste
- I toothbrush
- 1 shampoo
- 1 soap
- 1 medicated lotion
- 1 pack of baby wipes
- 1 roll of toilet paper
- 1 first aid kit
- 1 washcloth
- 1 drawstring bag
Depending on donations and LifeKit size considerations we try our best to provide one food item per day, 6-8 oz of water a day, as well as comprehensive basic hygiene items.
The cost of providing these LifeKits to the Hope Center is $2263 a month, or about $11.32 per LifeKit. Please help us by signing up to be a LifeKit company affiliate and help us gather these items in a group effort at your business.
Or you may donate on an individual basis by sending us the items listed above directly or by making a cash donation at the link below.
